I’m once again truly honored to participate in this prestigious event. The Boao Forum highlights China’s role in holding together a globalized economy in these eventful times. And this year the Forum contemplates how the economy will develop in a world that still bears the scars of COVID.

我非常榮幸再次出席博鰲亞洲論壇年會。在這個局勢復(fù)雜多變的時代, 論壇彰顯了中國在維護經(jīng)濟全球化方面發(fā)揮的重要作用。今年年會將著重探討飽受新冠疫情創(chuàng)傷的世界經(jīng)濟將何去何從。

Let me preface my remarks by stating how fortunate I am to be in charge of a world-class, diversified chemical company—SABIC—that is headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The reason is that the country’s wise leaders have a compelling vision for economic development and our shared future on this planet.

我非常幸運能夠領(lǐng)導(dǎo)沙特基礎(chǔ)工業(yè)公司這樣一家總部位于沙特的國際知名多元化化工企業(yè)。這是因為：具有遠見卓識的沙特國家領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人為實現(xiàn)經(jīng)濟發(fā)展、締造人類共同未來描繪了壯美的藍圖。

Their vision was recently manifested by the Saudi Green Initiative, which maps out a development path to meet the needs of the future without compromising present needs. It does this by respecting the principles of sustainability while aiming for carbon neutrality through circular carbon economy frame work. During Saudi green initiative, we announced our carbon neutrality strategy including our commitment to reduce our greenhouse gas emission by 2030 worldwide by 20% compared to 2018.

沙特領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人對未來的愿景，也充分體現(xiàn)在最近出臺的“沙特綠色倡議”中，該倡議提出了一條同時兼顧當(dāng)今與未來需求的發(fā)展道路，即恪守可持續(xù)原則，致力于通過碳循環(huán)經(jīng)濟的框架實現(xiàn)碳中和目標(biāo)。在“沙特綠色倡議”中，沙特基礎(chǔ)工業(yè)公司也宣布了我們的碳中和戰(zhàn)略，并承諾到2030年將公司全球溫室氣體排放量減少20%（以2018年為基準）。

China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and 2035 Long-Range Objectives not only lay a solid foundation for sustainable development but also specify “30-60” decarbonization goals. These provide a framework within SABIC which can strengthen its in-country partnerships, that include a joint venture with a just-commissioned polycarbonate plant in Tianjin and a just-licensed joint venture for a proposed petrochemical complex in Fujian.

中國“十四五”發(fā)展規(guī)劃和2035年遠景目標(biāo)為實現(xiàn)可持續(xù)發(fā)展奠定了堅實基礎(chǔ)，并明確了2030年前實現(xiàn)碳達峰及2060年前實現(xiàn)碳中和的目標(biāo)。得益于中國的發(fā)展規(guī)劃，沙特基礎(chǔ)工業(yè)公司正積極擴大在中國的投資合作。例如：在天津，我們的合資公司新建的聚碳酸酯工廠已于近期試車成功。在福建，我們新成立了一家合資企業(yè)，以推進計劃中的石化聯(lián)合體項目。

I can easily imagine major projects in other industries coming together under other far-sighted economic-development programs, such as China’s Belt-and-Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

不難想象，在中國“一帶一路”倡議和“沙特2030愿景”等長遠經(jīng)濟發(fā)展計劃的引領(lǐng)下，各行各業(yè)的凝聚力將進一步得到加強，進而孕育出更多重大項目。

As the sole featured speaker representing the international business community, I take it as my responsibility to speak on its behalf. And I believe the consensus view of my peers is that the best way to create long-term value and spread well-being throughout the world is to respond to climate change under the umbrella of sustainable development.

作為今天的企業(yè)界發(fā)言代表，我有責(zé)任在這里為國際企業(yè)家們發(fā)聲。我相信，我和我的同事們都有這樣一個共識：秉持可持續(xù)發(fā)展理念、應(yīng)對氣候變化，是創(chuàng)造長期價值并造福全世界的最佳方式。

This won’t be easy or quick. Energy-based value chains require a lot of time and effort to transform. Together, public and private sectors must “re globalize” the world economy to establish not only alternative energy sources but also new markets and diversified supply chains.

這絕非易事，也不可能一蹴而就。實現(xiàn)以能源為基礎(chǔ)的產(chǎn)業(yè)鏈轉(zhuǎn)型，需要投入大量時間和精力。公共部門和私營部門必須攜起手來，推動世界經(jīng)濟的“再全球化”，在開發(fā)可替代能源的同時，開拓新的市場并建立多元化的供應(yīng)鏈。

But I’m convinced that, through the spirit of collaboration, we can overcome the biggest of challenges. It is what enabled us to get through the worst of the COVID pandemic. And it is the basis on which to build a cohesive, inclusive and prosperous world.

我相信，只要秉持協(xié)作精神，哪怕是最艱巨的挑戰(zhàn)，最終也會被我們克服。正是協(xié)作精神，幫助我們度過了新冠疫情最艱難的時刻；也正是協(xié)作精神，將最終帶領(lǐng)我們實現(xiàn)一個團結(jié)、包容和繁榮的世界。

And with that parting thought, I wish this year’s Boao Forum great success.
